In my artistic practice, I primarily work in sculpture, which is directly connected to my academic background. I earned a Master’s degree in Sculpture from the Art Academy of Latvia in 2007.
Over the years, I’ve held several solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows, art projects, symposiums, festivals, and competitions—both in Latvia and internationally. My work has been exhibited across the globe, including in Japan, Vietnam, Russia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland, the USA, Kuwait, and Cabo Verde.
As a sculptor, I enjoy working with a wide range of materials, including welded metal, fiberglass, concrete, Styrofoam, ice, snow, sand, wood, bronze, aluminum, stone, and mixed media. I also create fire sculptures, which add a dynamic and performative element to my work.
In recent years, I have focused more on ephemeral materials such as ice, snow, sand, and fire. These “short-term” materials have allowed me to realize my ideas on a monumental scale and travel the world, sharing my art with diverse audiences. However, one of my favorite mediums remains welded metal. I am drawn to its strength and structure, and I enjoy transforming its hardness into visual lightness and transparency—while still maintaining durability and form.
A recurring theme in my work is the female figure—particularly women’s emotional states, their responses to their surroundings, and the reinterpretation of familiar cultural icons. Nature also plays a significant role in my artistic inspiration. I explore natural forms through both realistic and abstract interpretations, using them as a source of visual language and symbolism.
